Nanny caring for all grand and great at some time when needed. My 19yr old is autistic and in our area there is very little for the older ones, actually I have found nothing for them close enough. He is still in school (21) new law . He graduated last year because he had finished all school work but only recieved certificate of completeness becauses if diploma was given he could not continued until 21. He has been on the work program for 3 summers and now permantly with job coach on site to help him learn social and other work and life related skills . He has been at the library and works 5 days a week.. He is such a good young man, so full of love and kindness and so handsome but has no friends his age and that is what he wants so badly . I have MS, AVN,Diabetis,Tarteritis, arthritis, and just had shoulder and rotator cuff total replacement and repair and went back into braces so I am limited with driving him places of any distance. I just want him to have a life that is so full of love and peace and security and that he has b ut no friends his age , I do not know who or where to get any help in that field and it would be so wonderful if he could go places because he deserves to.Does anyone else have such a situation or know who I could turn to to help get some way for him to meet others his age but that are not drinking, smoking or such . He is just so intelligent but socially still needs help and I am working on that everyday . He never has been in a fight , in trouble and he is so neat and clean and so smart on computers etc. Also ,he never forgets, once something is explained to him , he never needs it done again ,his memory is incrediable. When he watches a movie once, he knows every word, character, maker and everything else involved with it., He then often puts it in the vcr and turns off the sound and relives the entire show with such expression and joy.,but there is nothing in my area that I can find that could let him put this incrediable gift to work. I am 66 so I really must find some answers so he can be the best he can and have every opportunity possible to move forword and become a wonderful ,caring and productive member of society and have a future not just be let to fail or sit in a corner before I am to sick, weak or old to help him. I am about to turn custody back of his 13 yr old brother to his mom because he is getting his life and school work done and his mom is doing better and I Thank God for that. The other grandchildren I care for whenever there mom is working (2 jobs) and she was hit by an ambulance so was down for 2 yrs but she fights so hard as do her girls and they are honor students 13 and 14 and the 14 year old is a musician specializing in trumpet, but plays frenchhorn, mello phon, piano, gutiar and violin, all self taught but the trumpet she started those lessons in 4th grade and since 10yrs old has been playing with the adult church choir every week, goes to weekly practice and even transposes the church music to make it easier for Jim (leader) because the church has no trumpet music . She also has been in the high school band since 6th grade and gone to competition each year because she plays so well the BofEd gave special permission since she also was on honor roll. Her sister is an artist and they are both alter servers at church and help with the younger children when I am weak. There older sister lived with us most of her life and now 6 houses down the street with hubby and baby ,1st greatgrand 6 and they never go a day without being here The boys oldest sister who also lived with us many years now lives at home with mom ,is 21, married ,has 2nd greatgrand 4 and now we are awaiting the next one ,so she is staying at home and helping her mom get well and trying to help brother. I was blessed to home school 6 of the grands while they had problems and all ended up honor students returning to school. My daughter is trying to heal and mend her family but it has really been hard ,her husband killed himself 46 years old and she just lost all hope but if we all work together she has to get well. And finally there is my son ,no children but married ,his wife has so much potential and had done so much with her life but sadly is an alcholic. She tried and attended meeting etc but it is a disease and has destroyed her body and if she doesn't face the reality of things I am afraid we might loose her ,my son has worked so hard and despite all the odds growing up in his life he followed his dreams and worked so hard until he finally opened his own business and is a prominent builder in our area and although his father is 69 and retired they both have gotten what they wanted all there lives , they are working side by side building new homes and restoring old ones.We need prayers and lots of love to keep this wonderful but tmuch troubled family on the right road and to help the lost ones to find there way back. This is my story and why I was looking for someplace and someone I could maybe share things with.I desperately need to find help for my autistic young man. Someone somewhere must have run into the same situation and hopefully found some answers and will be willing to share. I pray every night that God gives me the strength ,faith, determination and love of my family to help me in the right direction and not let me give up. I am His child, the wife, the mother, the grand and the great grandmother so this is my rule in life and I would never want to not accept it but I really need a little help now especially so none of them will give up . Through example and love I have to lead us all in the right direction. My mother raised 9 of us working 3 jobs a day after my father left and she gave up all the luxeries she had with him to keep us together because he wanted her to put us in an orphage and continue their life the way it was ,and they were well off ,but she choose us and we always knew how loved we were, so poor but so loved making me always wanting to be just like my mom, never could I fill her shoes but I will always try. Even in death ,she was such a lady, she looked me in the eye, smiled and shoke her head showing me it's okay and just closed her eyes so peacefully. Her final gift to me ,that death is nothing to fear ,just trust God., and I do. Thank you for letting me post.
