I applaude your thrift as long as the "free" items do not exceed the reduced fat, salt, and sugar content of other comparable purchases.
Validation of monetary savings using coupons can only be proved and justified by legitimate comparisons of reduced calories and other excesses harmful to human consumption.
In other words, if the coupons only enable acquistion of free "junk" food or other, excessive intake, or non-essentials to your diet, the coupons may be harmful to you and your family.
I go by the old adage: "Nothing is free."
