Every search I do lists Hawaii as the perfect place for my well-being and spirit. However, I am poor. I have excellent office skills and worked as unemployment intake worker for 12 years. I am 63 and have 2 children in mid 30's with disabilities. Together on SS and SSDI, we make around $2300 a month. I don't suppose there is low income housing available. I am not looking to buy a home, but to rent apartment. Our everyday needs are minimal. Sun, water, beach, and my life is good.
Any suggestions, or should I just cross it off my list. Ihave about $6000 to relocate.
I hate to be negative, because often where there is a will there is a way. Hawaii is expensive - food and utilities especially. If you plan to bring furniture, $6,000 is probably not enough. Right now rents are low. Jobs are scarce.
Right now may not be the right time.
