I'm considering changing my auto insurance from Amica to Hartford. A year ago I was seduced by Amica's great tv commercials and decided to sign up with them. I decided to switch after my previous insurance company raised my rates. I did not have any accidents, claims, or violations. Amica was less expensive so I decided to give them a try. Almost immediately I was disappointed. They raised the rates for my policy 3 times before I officially signed up. There was never anyone at their end of the telephone when I called in. I had to wait a long time to get thru to someone. After my first year with them, they raised my premium 22% but again I had no claims, accidents, or violations. In short they have a great advertising agency but not so good customer service. Then when my policy was up for renewal I get a nice call from them to announce that my new policy would be comming along soon. I thought I would get a good driver discount, but not. So I started looking around an checked with Hartford. Their rates are less than half what I was paying with Amica. I checked the internet and found JD Powers rated them amongst the top auto insurance companies.
I have read thru the posts on this site and found a lot of frustration with Hartford. Has anyone had a good experience with Hartford?
