When I became a member 2 years ago, one of the first things I did was obtain a quote for Auto ins with the intention of obtaining and purchasing my homeowner's insurance to further discount my insurance. I had and still do not have any tickets and after 25 years of no accidents I had a backing accident into an illegally parked tiny car in our 13 unit's single driveway. I believe the total claim was $2,200. The auto quote from AARP was higher than my current insurance and the rep was kind enough to inform me that due to a flood in my home, having had no prior homeowners claims would be much higher and saved me the time of obtaining the quote. I was told the accident would drop off three years following the incident and that date just passed so I tried again. No luck. I'm not sure if the law changed or what. Bottom line, all the third party providers use AARP Services and Discounts to advertize. There are no discounts for being an AARP member. Disappointing, at best.
