I am a long time fan of PBS.
My children grew up with Sesame Street, Mr Rogers, Zoom and later DeGrassi Junior High which has changed so much that it makes me want to weep. The so called NEW DeGrassi is filled with what they believe is timely, but plays out like an adult soap opera for the youth of today.
I will not go into that, however. I love that PBS has the old doo **** specials, and though we cannot live in yesterday, every now and then it is sweet to go back to a more uncomplicated time of life. I also love the British comedies and soaps like East Enders and Chef! which no longer airs and Red Green cracks me up! Also love guessing at the value of old articles on the Antique Road Show.
If not for PBS, new families who want their children to digest something other than the usual fare, would not have Super Why, Sid The Science Kid, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Curious George, to name just a few. Of course, Sesame Street is still a big draw after forty years. I imagine that I will always be a fan of PBS and a supporter as well.
Anyone else have favorites?
