How does that theory explain away the fact that 99% of the evolutionary development of Australopithecine, Pongid, and that of all the predecessors of Sapiens, as well as all of Sapiens took place in non-aquatic surroundings?
Sounds like somebody is gullible - or perhaps has an axe to grind.
That theory has caused numerous smiles, giggles and rolling of the eyes to the ceiling in the anthropological world. There will now be a "wet man" to go with Piltdown man, unless, of course one is an avid reader of conservapedia and other fairy tale literature.
It is however a possible link in the evidentiary chain to support the postulate that the conservative brain is either withering away from disuse or devolving. It's been observed by some that the similarity between the conservative brain and a badly infected pustule is not accidental.
