In Response to Re: Zimmerman NOT GUILTY:
"Your right I should have looked before I lept. I reported as it was reported on channel 2 news. And I should know better. I remember the fuss over the reporter who defaced the coral reef then reported it as something else."
Hear, hear! Well said!
"But that does not change the fact that there are many frivolous cases."
I would agree there are some; "many"....maybe....but I bet "many" get weeded out. There aren't that many bizarre court decisions, but when there is one, it's plastered across the news, with partial facts and someone twists the story to make a point....just like the McD's story. I've heard Limblah and Hannity rant about what a travesty the lawsuit was; knowing they were distorting the facts and ignoring others just to make a point to their brain-dead regular listeners.
"And our system is in a bind. People take offense at the dumbest things. Finding fault with everything. They have forgotten that we are all different. We all have our strong points and our weak points. None of us is perfect. We all make mistakes. And hopefully we learn from them."
I don't believe "our system is in a bind" as much as you apparently do. And that's ok....just a differing opinion there. For what it's worth, IMO, I believe we need tort reform. Not because some claim it would lower healthcare costs, because we've already proven that to be a lie, but anyone submitting a frivilous lawsuit should be required to pay the legal and other costs of those they are accusing. I also believe the attorney filing the frivilous suit should pay for the cost as well...they know whether a case is frivilous or not. More times than not lawsuits are filed in hopes of getting a settlement out-of-court. Put something like this in place and watch the case volume drop. Watch the legal profession become more ethical.
