Karl, I agree with everything you say. The killings with racial overtones are not always "white on black" but it is unfortunate that whenever that is the case, old angers and passions are stirred up and the spectacle once again unfolds. I wonder if this isn't made worse by the broadcast media at large and the social media giving everyone an opportunity to make their voices heard.
I'm not suggesting that the public should not speak out...just that some reflection and a judicious choice of verbiage be used. Too many spew out anger, terrible epithets and inflammatory rhetoric...we even see it on this forum.
Wherever we fall on the racial spectrum, it is unlikely that a productive dialogue can occur with the loud, hateful, abusive and angry words rising like thunderclouds over the growing crowd of citizens who honestly want to make effective change and create a society which reveres individual rights, unfettered civil liberties and equality for all...regardless of their differences. JMO.
