In Response to Re: Tax policy, Pay-some or Within-Revenue? More debt or 0 debt?:
I would love to see a balanced budget amendment introduced in Congress and passed by an overwhelming vote. But I know that is just a pipe dream.
Our national debt is massive and growing out of control day by day. There seems to be nothing that can be done to stop it. I fear that one of these days our government will declare bankruptcy and our economy will go down the toilet. Does anyone have an idea as to how we can prevent that? I do not.

An amendment is really hard to do. A government balanced budget is not. 1st, what is that?
Government spending kept within revenue thru decades of economic cycles is a balanced budget. How does that work?
In such a budget, revenue available to spend limits and controls that budget’s spending total and the mix of spending within that total. So, how is debt managed in that?
All politicians like to spend. The revenue used to pay the cost of debt makes the revenue they have to spend smaller. Not one of them likes that. So they all make all debt they had to spend as short-lived as possible and any long-term debt they can find, they immediately put that in pay down. Why do that to all long-term debt? As that debt decreases, the revenue used to pay the cost of it deceases. That increases the revenue they have to spend. That lets them do more spending. They really really like that.
What I just described was how our federal budget worked the day in 2001 JR Busch took office. Not just that, from our nation’s 1st day to that day, that was how our federal budget worked. After 2001 it did not do that. What happended?
For the first time in our history, our politicians that are debt spenders got control of our Congress. What their debt spending has done to our government, economic system, and social infrastructure is horrendous. And they did all that in just 12 years.
But I know that is just a pipe dream. You want that? Then do this: Do not vote for any politician that is a debt spender. If your candidate is a debt spender, do not vote for him or her.
I’m on the Right. In November, every Republican on my ballot was a debt spender. I did not vote for any of them. Why? I do not care what side a debt spender is on, mine included, I do not and will not vote for them.
I do not want those people out of our country. I want them out of our government.
