In Response to Re: Meet Ohio's Three New Anti-Abortion Laws:
By signing this budget bill, Gov Kasich may have signed his death warrant as governor. He was elected in 2010 by less than a 2% margin and received less than 50% of the vote. In 2010 he ran against an incumbent governor who ran a very weak campaign. But in 2014, he will be facing a very strong opponent in Cuyahoga County executive Edward Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is very popular in Cuyahoga County, the state's most populous county and a Democratic stronghold. He is also a very good campaigner who is a "fresh face" in state politics and is fifteen years younger than Kasich. He has already made a strong statement against this bill and is using it as a campaign issue.

Good post. Yep, Gov Kasich caved to the Crazy Caucus and p*ssed off nearly every woman in Ohio. Due to the new definition of pregnancy contained in this bill (aka-personhood) it could be a real mess for women who simply want birth control pills. Kasich wants to be seen as a moderate for reelection in 2014, but he's so afraid of the Tea Party he went ahead and signed this monstrosity. He's toast now.
