In Response to Re: Medical Malpractice Insurance and RECORD Profits:
posbar's inane ramblings about how wonderful it is to live in Texas where you can't sue your doctor CLAIMED that cut the costs, BUT in reality the good people of Texas pay some of the highest insurance premiums in the Nation, which is doubtless why over 25% of the population has NO health insurance. On top of that, the wonderfulness of the "can't sue your doctor" laws is that the doctors don't seem to be as careful as they are elsewhere, hence Texas' LAST PLACE ranking in heath care outcomes. THAT pretty much refutes Posbar's claim of finding a superior method for lowering costs, unless you want to pretend he meant to say the costs were lower for the insurance providers, a "savings" they did not bother to pass on the their customers.

Great points, OlderScout. Let's see, Conservatives claimed tort reform would reduce health insurance premiums upto 10%, some said here upto 15%...that NEVER happened. And as you correctly pointed out, Texas has some of the highest costs in the country. The Medical Malpractice insurers are reaping record profits, the docs, as posbar pointed out, are doing MUCH better.....so who's losing out here? That's right; the healthcare consumer. Is this just another example of the Conservative mantra of "I've got mine and the Hell with you?" Telling that the Cons run and hide when the facts reveal their ignorance of the facts.
