Perhaps you noted that these operations are not going on in this country, but from Afghanistan and surrounding countries, and into Europe. Most of the drug trafficking that affects this country is indigenous to the Western Hemisphere. Any information that NSA picks up in those localities would have no affect on American citizens or the Fourth amendment.
Additionally, it has also been reported in the media about this being looked into by the Justice Department, and whatever information is passed on to the DEA creates an area where the information can't be used in court, and is a problem for prosecutors and defending attorneys. Basically the way it's being explained, the DEA notifies local authorities, for instance, to be on the lookout for a specific vehicle at a certain place and time. Then the authorities find an excuse to stop the vehicle, have a drug sniffing dog to 'discover' the narcotics. They are not allowed to reveal where they received their information. So how would you like to be caught up in a mix-up because of this? Remember the government, etc makes mistakes in going after innocent citizens. From the excuses I'm hearing, some here don't really care, but what happens if they get caught up in a government SNAFU?
I'm through with this topic since there is one that keeps joining in attempting to make it personal.
