In Response to Punishing the Jobless by WernerS2
Having been one who has taken advantage of unemployment compensation, I see two things: 1) I really appreciated it, and 2) there are many who skate by and drag out the benefit for as long as they can. More enforcement of the rules is necessary. As a hiring review person, I have seen countless job applications that, I'm sure, were simply filled out to be able to tell the Unemployment Office that they applied at XYZ. The application responses themselves were designed to be turned down. How do we separate the deserving from the undeserving? I don't know.
And all those hard-hearted Republicans were trying to do is get those Democrats of stout character to abide by their own laws and designate where the money was coming from to extend these benefits. It's the law that there must be funding. And all the wonderful Dems had to do was say, "OK, we'll designate a part of the unused stimulus dollars to pay for this." But, no -- the two parties would prefer to just call each other names.
