It's been my observation in my own little town that the way these polluters get off without any government oversite is one the GOP bull males are practiced in the art of....stalling. I live in NJ. Of the top 5 Superfund sites in the US, NJ has 3. NJ is still after more than 3 decades battling with National Lead for the lead slag that showed up along the shorelines nearest to NL location. Two chemical manufacturers in my own town pulled off the all time stall of the world...after polluting 21 artesan wells in town. And all they had to do was make it appear they were actually planning to take responsibility for the remediation. So when the courts were looking, they'd simply hire an environmental contractor and the minute the heat was off, fire said contractor. Until one NJ judge had enough. But, these two chemical companies were not going to pay those huge fines no way no how...They sold their property to TX First Energy and because energy utilities do not have to abide by the remediation regulations of prior owners, no fine was ever paid. And now? Those two chemical companies are polluting Arkansas where they relocating their operations.
