Interesting breakdown of the 1%, but why didn't it include capital gains income? Not sure Forbes is an unbiased source!
I'm as upset about the money grabbers as you are especially the financial manipulators and some "big Business" execs.
Entertainment including sports are businesses so somebodyv thinks the payv for "stars" is worthwhile.
In Response to Re: THE REAL CAUSE OF POVERTY - INEQUALITY:
"My post was an objection to the use of averages when calculating the effect of reducing exec pay and giving the differance to employees. Saworld used the income distribution data that must have included a lot of people not execs in producing businesses likw the financial manipulators. Do you know the make up of those 1% ers? karl Posted by krlklar
Karl, The very good trend comparisons of worker productivity versus compensation are one way to illustrate the problem of rising Inequality. However, it doesn't really matter what industry the 1% works in if they are taking (not earning) an increasing share of the economic pie at the expense of the 99%.
For example, what about a doctor who underpays his office staff and also rushes his patients' visits to unfairly increase his own take? Or lawyers? I personally know of one law firm that categorically stole from its employees' paychecks by playing around with the calendar and pay-periods. So one-percenters certainly work in service industries too.
I don't know why you can not accept facts that disagree with your right-wing creed or why you can not learn to do a simple Google search. Here's one breakout of the 1% and you'll note that traditional top management types remain the largest group but of course there is diversity. http://blogs-images.forbes.com/timworstall/files/2011/12/Table2.jpg
In addition, there are industry/title shifts over time but nothing that can explain/condone the current plutonomy other than the power and money grabs that have occurred. BTW, many right-wingers like to complain about arts, media and sports stars making too much because this group tends to be more Liberal. Please note the miniscule share they are of the one percent.
