The importance of this "managing the message" is that if you visit a particular site and all you see is a one-sided argument, are you more or less likely to believe that the information is accurate?
The point is that by voting FOR or AGAINST an ideologically stance and that voting dictates the page, there is an effect. The bloggers decided to manipulate the voting process, like a push poll or ballot stuffing and that does have consequences.
I would prefer that websites post information with links that with FACTs, not just someone's opinion, especially since the individual who's opinion is being broadcasted as Conventional Wisdom in largely unknown. And yes, for the record, I also hate "undisclosed source", which has become a tool from every political party.
