I don't see the connection to what I wrote!!!
Look up the definitions of Socialism, the political system. The government agencies hire private firms because they either don't have the skills or capabilities or it's less costly. Sure there are bad decisions and cronyism, but that's part of lack of control and monitoring by GOVERNMENT.
Of course we need controls over monopolies etc. as I've posted many times.
I'm as disgusted as anybody about some of the outlandish pay, perks, golden parachutes etc. given by Big Business. That's a whole different thing primarily due to lack of real competition, inbred interested party governing boards etc.
Obama made a lot of "promises" in '08 including CHANGE and then abetted Pelosi and Reid in extending and amplifying the political ways and excesses
I believe it is you who are confused. How is handing our government over to private businesses like XE, Halliburton and the rest of the crony capitalists...not Socialism? It's time conservatives get over themselves. This is a country with a population that exceeds 235 million people. If every branch of government is segmented in a way that creates millions of private contractors all feeding at the federal kitty, it isn't going to be more than an attempt to cover up the fact that our tax dollars are no longer OURS to use as we deem necessary but a source of PROFIT in the hands of profiteering private contractors.
You wanted evidence. Fine. How much of the work of the military is now performed by Americans who enlist in the military? What percentage has been farmed out to the military contractors in VA, KY, TX, NC, SC and AZ? And, while we are on the subject of those military industrialists, how much of our tax dollars are spent creating war after war after war ...just to keep profits rolling into these private contractors?
The best evidence of what happens when conservatives take over is what happened with the Robber Barons of the early 1900s who came to believe they WERE the government and defied anti-trust laws and then tried desperately to take control of the government.
This is a president who had his new ideas soundly dashed to pieces by GOP hard liner conservatives. Had they left the ACA intact as he offered it, it would not now need a single bit of tweaking. Those problem with some in this country is their minds are buried too deeply in businesses they now want taxpayers to fund completely.
Sorry...but when a CEO of McKesson at age 56 can earn a salary of $56 million a year and then should he choose to retire live on a retirement of $350 million a year...that's enough with the Poor Rich and Poor Businesses sob stories.
This is a government that has EVERY right to put a stop to corruption in business. It has every right to protect consumers from constant fraud and deception. That's why it's called a "government" and not a "corporation."
