The CATCH-22 was recently delivered to the folks of West in the past few weeks (assuming they have mail-boxes still standing). For those not living in TX - we get an annual assessment of property value and taxes that will have to be paid for the next year. Those assessments were made - so now the folks who's homes were destroyed or made unliveable as a result of the plant explosion are faced with more problems:
Just one more piece of information - we know that they won't receive funds to rebuild by the Company Insurance.
1. They have the opportunity to go to their State Tax Auditor and prove that the value of home / property is not accurate and have the value reassessed. That will mean that there are fewer dollars to the local community.
2. They can pay the earlier assessed value and not be able to live in their home - but the town will be the recipient of the tax dollars - so maybe they can rebuild the school.
