In Response to re: Cat Losing Weight, Eating Like a Pig by BrownLadyInPA
Instead of Tapazole, ask your vet for the generic, methimathiazole. Also, lots of pharmacies have many common pet meds on their $10 for 3 month supply lists if they offer that service; my late cat Tripod's methimathiazole I finally got through Target pharmacy, and it was way cheaper (and easier to pick up) than the vet. And hyperthyroidism can cause a big appetite as well as weight loss. But it seems to me that your cat has been diagnosed with diabetes. Another thing, use caution when giving cats human meds: cats, especially older ones, don't process meds like we do. Aspirin and other NSAIDS can kill a cat in no time even with less than a whole tablet. Check with your vet first before giving any medications not prescribed by a vet to your cat.
