Will my prayer be answered? Of course, God will answer your prayers — yet as Saint Augustine, following Christ’s teaching, says, “God knows what we need before we even ask.” Saint Augustine also tells us to pray to increase our desire for God so that we might be able to receive what God is preparing to give us.
Saint Augustine spent many years of his life in sin and in false beliefs. For nearly 20 years his mother, Saint Monica, prayed fervently for his conversion. Finally, her prayers were answered and Augustine became convinced that Christianity was the one true religion. He was baptized, became a priest, a bishop, a famous Catholic writer, founder of religious priests, one of the great saints and one of the greatest Fathers and Doctors of the Catholic Church.
Like Saint Monica we have prayed for our personal needs. We may have asked our Blessed Mother to intercede for us for something as small as passing a test to something more life-changing like being cured of cancer. Our human nature leads us to expect an immediate answer, but sometimes it might take months or even years for the prayer to be answered. That is because, as St. Augustine reminds us, God knows what we need before we ask.
Saint Monica turned to prayer when in need to save her son; let us turn in prayer to Mary when we are in need of the graces she can obtain for us. , and take the opportunity to at our Lady’s Shrine as a sign of your needs. We will join you in asking the Blessed Mother to grant you the favors you request through the intercession of her beloved Son and the Holy Spirit.
If you have a story about your prayers being answered, please It’s wonderful to hear how our Lady has interceded for those who are so devoted to her.
Continue to place your trust in our Lady. May you find the graces you seek.
Sincerely yours in Jesus and Mary,
