In Response to RE: What do you find difficult about writing a memoir?:
Whether to write it as a narrator, 3rd person or whatever? I would like to tell a story. How can you write to make it keep a reader’s attention or don’t want to put the
book down? I have had an exciting life. Most of it is true and some will be fiction.
A memoir becomes interesting when it is organized in some dramatic fashion. By that, I mean, a memoir must show something happening--there must be some action moving towards a goal. That something can be external which is what most people think of as exciting but there is an internal action too (your aspirations and struggles, ec.) that can also be portrayed in a dramatic, actionable fashion. Ultimately, a memoir must be written about something psychologically BIG to be interesting. It need not be about an external big. I hve helped many people to write memoirs and have forund this to be consistently true.
