In Response to Up and coming:
Who is this site? https://duckduckgo.com/
It allow anonymous searching, etc. For more information search for the site, https://duckduckgo.com. As a starting point, here are a few links:
From my use so far, it has found everything I needed/wanted, it found it faster than Google, and there is privacy.
You may want to check it out!
I found it interesting, that I found better references on https://duckduckgo.com/ for complaints against AARP than Google ever gave.

Does DuckDuckGo make a commitment to maintain this same apparent level of privacy? I wonder how long it will be, before they realize how much more money they could make, operating the same way as other search engines?! (I'm very jaded .. and disgusted)

I do understand your phrase of "I'm very jaded", and why you said it. The company/site was actually started in 2008 by one person, who according to reports was fed up with with privacy issues also.
Use of DDG has steadily increased, but has recently jumped because of the NSA "thing". According to other articles I've read (other than the ones provided), the owner has committed to the level of privacy they are doing now.
I've looked at it more, and will be shortly posting more information in CQT about this site.
