According to Obama, the person you told us all to vote for, you can't build a business. Somebody else has to make it happen. When you run articles like this you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

To the Obama complainers.  Give it a rest and go complain in a political forum.  I'm ready to shoot myself in the head with all the political garbage we're being bombarded with on TV, the radio, and every other outlet.  Just once, I want to go to a forum where people only talk about the subject matter.

I'm starting my own business slowly.  I'm just getting to the end of sewing school uniforms (school starts next week) and knitting for the fall and winter.  I'm getting to do things I enjoy in the privacy of my own home.  I just started doing this last winter so it's too soon to tell but I bring in enough spending money at this time but hope it will become a second career so my husband can retire early.

Eight years ago, I came up with a small craft item that I started selling on eBay.  That small start has grown into several products and other selling venues.  When I started, I would have been happy with 100 sales.  I'm now into the thousands.   This is a great work-at-home business.  I found something I know how to do and like doing (woodworking) and turned it into a profit center.  I can work as hard as I want - or not.  I sold $600 worth of merchandise while on vacation.  All I needed was an internet connection (motel), some inventory, some stamps, and a mailbox.  My little business is bringing in about half of our living expenses.

I would be very interested in doing something like this myself, but being fairly new to Social Security I am afraid to proceed for fear I will only knock myself out of Social Security. When selling, you will have times where a month is good and the next month may not be so I need a certain amount coming in, and to know that it will be coming in. So far I have not really found substantial answers to the effect my efforts might have. Who can tell me?

The Obama attack is not necessary.  All he was saying was that "No Person is an Island".  No matter what busines you start, someone has to pick up your trash, provide electricity and water, pave the roads, provide for your safety and your education, make the laws to keep you from getting ripped off.  So, stop the hating and accept that you can not do it alone.  Give thanks for the local, state and federal government input.

I started a band at age 50. I'm glad the street lights and traffick lights are working when I work late nights.  I'm happy for the water that makes the restrooms work and electricity that I can plug my equipment in to.

I recently received certification in etiquette tutoring and image consulting.  I plan to start this business as soon as possible.

I totally agree with baritenorman. The best job is the job you have a passion for. I have been disabled since 2002. For many years I have been making greeting cards and other homemade items. That would be what I would start a business in. I have a LOT of supplies already and would be ready to go. I have sold cards in the past and done pretty well. If I really devoted some time and effort into it I'm sure I could make something of it. It is my passion, I love doing it!!

I so agree with you about the political crap. Enough is enough. This is not the place for it!! What a gift you have to be able to  sew, knit, etc. I have always wanted to do that. Best of luck to you!!
