I receive a check for widow benefits, but they stopped my check this month due to my working wages. I have been to the office  about six months ago and signed a paper saying they would take out money from my monthly check till my balance I owed is paid up. How can they stop your check without letting you know anything? I have direct deposit and did not know it was stopped until I checked my bank balance!

Sounds like you probably should not have been getting survivors benefits at all if they are taking back money from you and not just reducing the amount of the benefit because of other income sources and amount.   There are many reasons this could be the case.

You can read about it here on this Social Security Publication.  You do need to find out what the problems is for your own knowledge and to make sure what is being done is correct.  I don't know why they would not let you know about this but signing that paper about taking back money you owe is a BIG hint that money has been sent to you in error.  You haven't given enough details here for us to determine what the full problem might be.
