My name is Landa55. I recently seen on the News, that THE GOVERMENT is taking student loan money from Social Security Checks. That was never allowed before. However, they said so many baby boomers stop paying their student loans when they start receiving Social Security Benefits. Well, they stopped paying because they couldn't afford to pay student loans when they started receiving Social Security. The President didn't give a COLA for two years. I don't understand how the government thinks citizens receiving social security can afford to have money taken for Student loans. People on Social Security are already struggling. I guess some of us will have to chose between medicine and food. Growing up I thought we had the best country and the richest country on earth. I was so proud to be an American. However THIS IS FRIGHTENING!
I THINK WE SHOULD START WRITING OUR PRESIDENT, CONGRESS, SENATORS, ETC.

The government getting back what is owed to them has pretty much been standard procedure for a long timde.
They can take it from a IRS tax refund or from your SS, disability check - not sure about SSI
If you owe money to the government, they will usually collect by some means. If you owe money to the government, I think you should pay it ASAP -
