OVER THE MANY YEARS OF VOTING, I HAVE BEEN A REGISTERED REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRAT AT DIFFERENT TIMES, DEPENDENT ON THE ISSUES THAT MEAN THE MOST TO ME. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO VOTE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER, NO MATTER, THE ISSUES............THEY VOTE PARTY, NOT ISSUES. I THINK NOW WE SENIORS HAVE TO BE REALLY CAREFUL NOT TO DO THAT THIS YEAR..........PLEASE BE AWARE OF HOW THIS VOTE WILL AFFECT YOU AND US ALL.....MOST OF US NEED MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY......AND IF THERE IS TALK ABOUT A SPECIFIC PARTY MAKING CUTS IN THOSE PLANS, WE NEED TO NOT VOTE FOR THAT PARTY. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER PROGRAMS WHERE UN-NECESSARY MONEY IS SPENT.............SO GET RID OF THOSE PROGRAMS SO THERE IS MORE MONEY FOR US SENIORS AND WE DON'T LOSE THESE VERY CRUCIAL PROGRAMS. PLEASE!! THANK YOU. |

PLEASE!! THANK YOU. Posted by rosemary3825 Rosemary, I don't know where you are getting your information but you need to get your facts straight. If you are already older (over 55), you do not have to worry about getting your SS. Medicare changes are gonna come irregardless of who is voted in - Medicare already has voucher programs and you might use one or both - Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Prescription Drug Program are both private insurance coverage of beneficiaries - seniors are able to pick and choose which plan is best for them and the government pays the voucher to that insurance company FOR YOU. So Don't sweat over all the big boo-ha-ha's that politicians keep throwing around. Government does not make changes to programs like these overnight - they are planned for down the road but we do have to have a plan and make changes cause if not, us baby boomers are gonna suck it dry at the current rate of growth. Now if you have Medicaid coverage, that WILL change irregardless of who is voted in and these changes may come faster since this coverage comes from the general fund and there sounds like a whole lots of people are gonna be added to Medicaid under Obamacare (PPACA). Even as seniors, we need to be open to change and just like Obamacare (PPACA) none of us know how it is all gonna work together. You may not like Medicare Accountable Care Organizations under Obamacare, you may not like your Medicare doctor being so overworked and underpaid, you may not like specialist getting paid less under Obamacare and having a harder time finding one. |

I CERTAINLY DID NOT EXPECT A LECTURE OR A NEED TO BE TOLD RESPONSE TO MY POST....I AM WELL AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND WE ALL ARE ENTITLED TO OUR OPINION. JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T AGREE WITH IT DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO REPLY TO ME IN A CONDESCENDING MANNER. THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS WE ARE IN SUCH A TURMOIL THESE DAYS...PEOPLE IN GOVERNMENT THINKING THEY ARE RIGHT AND EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG. EVERYTHING IS BLACK AND WHITE AND NO GREY. NO ONE CAN MEET IN THE MIDDLE AND AGREE TO DISAGREE..... WE ALL HAVE A RIGHT TO SPEAK OUR MINDS EVEN IF IT DOES NOT AGREE WITH YOU. THANK YOU. IN ADDITION, YOU ARE MAKING A RUSH DECISION ON MY CHOICE OF PARTY BY YOUR RESPONSE. AS STATED, I HAVE VOTED BOTH PARTIES IN THE PAST............WAS MERELY STATING THAT EVERYONE SHOULD MAKE AN EDUCATED VOTE AND NOT A VOTE BY PARTY ALONE! I CAN FEEL MY BLOOD PRESSURE RISING AND THAT WAS NOT THE INTENT OF THIS POST.. I GUESS I WAS ASSUMING SINCE WE ARE BLOGGING ON AARP WE ALL WOULD POST WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT OF OTHERS. I can supply you with links if you would like - from reputable, non-partisan sources like the Kaiser Family Foundation. They do a lot of analysis of the health reform act, and how specific legislation effects Medicare and Medicaid. I don't see anything condescending within my post to you. Sorry if I have offended you just wanted to give you some information so that your choice could be knowledgeable based on facts and not just something else. |
