I'm stunned. My homeowner's insurance has jumped 39% just now. How does anyone living on a fixed income manage that? Does anyone know what other insurers are doing? Is The Hartford out of line?

My home owners insurance just went up by 38%. Between insurance and taxes I'll probably have to give this property away. Is the Hartford out of line or am I out of touch?

I dropped Hartford, we got them several years ago because of their association with AARP, the first year the rates were good, the second year our auto rates went way up- no accidents, no citations, I called to ask them about it they said it was because of 'age' (my husband had turned 60. Along with the auto rate increase our homeowners went way up to. I dropped them and went with Liberty Mutual and saved almost 40%
