In Response to Disability Benefit amount:
I becameDisabled while married, but did not file until we were Separated and when I was approved, the amount was based soley on my tiny part timejob income,an dnot my husband's. I was told I could not get it through him, but only on my own, even after 17 years of marraige. Now, I just read an article here that says I could get it besed on HIS income. Which is correct? Help please!

Here is a pdf on the Social Security Disability Benefit Program
Page 12 says this:
"NOTE: In some situations, a divorced spouse may qualify for benefits based on your earnings if he or she was married to you for at least 10 years, is not currently married and is at least age 62. The money paid to a divorced spouse does not reduce your benefit or any benefits due to your current spouse or children."
