In Response to Re: Which state would you most like to live in during retirement?: Washington. It's a beautiful state with some vibrant big cities, lots of smaller cities, is on the Pacific Coast, and has the beautiful waterways and coastline of the Puget Sound. We have two mountain ranges and lowlands in between. We also have many islands with a ferry system serving them. We have no state income tax and the cost of living is reasonable. It's a very progressive state especially for women. Currently we have a female governor, two female senators, and half of our supreme court is composed of women. I also enjoy being on the west coast of the U.S. and within easy distance of Oregon and California. Posted by jacksons10 I agree for the same reasons. Western Washington is where my heart lives vibrantly. For now, I live in a "cheap place to live"--Houston TX, but it is not actually cheap and the crime rate is high. I am here only because my son and his family are here. I hope to get back to Washington some day. |
