As a writer (sr. citizen) I have helped friends edit resumes or scripts to use for online applications.  Online resumes are read more frequently than "hard cop" mail-ins.  Define the industry, research industry jargon, check webiste for online listings, re-phrase the company job description to fit your own. There is no foolproof method, no "right or wrong" answer.  BUT the biggest glitch for 60+ is computer skills.  To remain marketable you must get involved with new technology. As family and friends to "tune you in" to techno language and start texting. Don't wait for anyone to call you!  Initiate the call and establish communication, in particular if you really want job.  Perserverance works!  Diligence works! Asking the right questions works!
Hope this helps.
