Hello I just turned 50 in August, I am wanting to change careers, have read everything it seems like on getting finances for starting up a new business but am just overwhelmed, any help out there? Is there Grants or anything like that? I am also still a single parent.

The best way to start a business is to have a detailed business plan -
The plan must cover just about everything from how you intend to make it a profitable to how much it will cost to get up and running.
Most lenders want you to have a stake in the game too. 
It is not a good idea to build a business from only the money of others.

You can get help from SCORE - (Service Corps of Retired Executives)
Check out the "TOPICS" section and there are usually local chapters.
