This might interest some of you but have you thought about Hospitality Exchanging with other singles. It is like swapping homes for a vacation but instead you stay with your swap partner and then reciprocate later. Your swap partner can act as your guide and show you around their area and you then can do the same when they come and stay with you. It is obviously important to get to know your potential Hospitality partner beforehand by exchanging emails and tel calls etc but it is a great way to travel and you are not paying for accommodation. There are a few websites to browse including ours but not sure if I am supposed to list it in this post so I will not but you can always send me a message if you need to know more. Brian L

you are so right about that!  i've never had a better flight experience than with lufthansa (especially on the rare first class flight), though i understand Singapore Air (no personal experience, sadly) along with a couple others rates as highly.  i am always looking for the most comfortable way to travel and am now considering giving the rails a try.  there are beautiful sights to see on enticing excursions (both escorted and unescorted) offered by Amtrak throughout the US and Canada. roomette train accommodations combined with hotel stays could be a good bet on a long trip across country.  any input/interest out there? i'm a 62 year old widow who enjoys traveling to nearly anywhere and have found single travel can be just as interesting and rewarding as travelling with friends.  when alone, one tends to strike up, as well as invite, more conversation with other single travellers.  additionally, lone travellers hesitate to approach  a group travelling together lest they are intruding.  most of my travelling was planned and arranged by me.  from the carolinas to the bahamas, europe, south africa, south america and more.  i'm not big on group tours simply because i like to be free to do things at my own pace and scout out locals points of interest.  just returned from a short stay in athens, greece, followed by a cruise from there to venice, and another 9 days in a venetian apartment.  no red umbrellas, 7 a.m. departures, stuffy buses.  it was a wonderful trip, however, i did have friends and relatives join me at times.  currently, i am forced to slow down a bit because of leg problems, but would be interested in hearing from anyone regarding train travel they've either already enjoyed or would be interested in.  sorry to have blathered on for so long.   travel talk sets me off! lolly Response to Re: Single Senior Travel :  I am single and would like to travel solo....would you mind sharing your booking agent

I enjoy traveling by myself (I am 63 and female). I meet so many more people that way....other lone wolf travelers, last minute travelers, and groups who feel compelled to include me for dinner! Not to mention it ramps up the opportunities to be invited to a local's home for cocktails or a meal, once leading me to a house swap a year later.  There are many safe places for a woman to travel alone. Especially like Paris (they like US citizens because we tip better than Europeans or the Brits!) and you save money and stress because you don't need a car. Tortola in the BVI (again no car needed if you
stay on the quiet side of the island, i.e. Cane Garden Bay) is extremely and proudly protective of tourists on their own. St. Croix is also a very safe bet as is Turks and Caicos, Bequia, Mustique, Grenada. Same for the South Island of New Zealand, especially Akaroa which is 60 miles from Christ Church) but here you will definitely need a car and getting around by car is quite easy and not stressful.

I too am 63 and love traveling alone for the same reasons you do! I have twice met men with whom I had with each a 2 year relationship. Long distance but both times we would meet once a month someone neither of us had ever been.
Was great fun!

I am always looking for some lady to share cruises with, to avoid single supplement prices.  Prefer Royal Carib or Celebrity.  Am booked in June for Alaska and Dec for the Carabb
ian , but open for somethin in August-and yes New orleans would be fun to sail from, not sure who hits there besides Carnival-maybe Royal too.

Read everyones post and see no one from the Michigan ( Metro ) area, I love the Casino trips, but they can get costly when you do not have a mate to travel over night with. Anyone interested in these trips in my area?
Oh yes, i am a 65 year old very healthy widow.

Don't know about the Single Travelers group at AARP.  I am turning 60 this winter, am widowed, and live in a small rural midwestern town.  Finding travel companions would be great!  What info and tips can you supply?  Opportunities for singles my age to meet and get together are almost non-existent!

I live in Milwaukee, WI and would travel more if I had a companion or two.  I turned 70 this year, and am planning a week's yoga retreat in the Bahamas and to swim with dolphins there, possibly in June of this year.  The cost is quite reasonable, but you do have to pay for your own RT ticket to Fort Lauderdale, which I have learned is presently $383.  If you are interested in a trip like this you can contact me for more information and I will send you the website to find out the particulars, and see if this is something you would like to do.
