No Booze, No Cruise. Looking for Nature (mostly tropical) trips.
Married; spouse doesn't travel, but lets me out (I'm retired, she's not).
Small group is fine.

I've had a great time with Road Scholar, formerly Elderhostel.  Their website give a lot of info on the type of travel, amount of physical activity required, etc.

I am a widow, love traveling but prefer cruising, because it is by far the easiest safest way for an old woman alone, all I have to do is get to the airport, knowing I'll be met and my worries are over. Doing one to Alaska in June and the Caribbean in December. Thinking about the Mediterrean but hate those long long flights(from Arizona).

I would like to back up another poster's suggestion about Elderhostel/Road Scholar.  I have made a number of domestic and foreign trips with them, all but one as a single woman.  People who travel with this organization tend to be open, friendly, and very interesting people, and I always found interesting, compatible people to hang out with on all my trips, and have kept in touch with a few (there are always other singles, usually women--you will not be the only one--but most people on these trips, regardless of gender or single/couple status, have been great dompany).

Don't know about the Single Travelers group at AARP.  I am turning 60 this winter, am widowed, and live in a small rural midwestern town.  Finding travel companions would be great!  What info and tips can you supply?  Opportunities for singles my age to meet and get together are almost non-existent!

I also live in a small (20.000) and pretty rural midwestern IN town.  I am not traveling much at the moment, but love to do so when I have enough money.  If you live near the Chicago or So. Bend area, we should get in touch.

Celebrity Millenium Concierge Handicap rooms

I am set to travel to Alaska on a land cruise tour with Celebrity Cruises.  I noticed that the only concierge class handicapped rooms with a balcony (not the suites) are a the back of the ship.  If you want to be on the side (port or starboard) you have to give up the concierge class or purchase a suite at a really high additional cost.  Has anyone ever stayed in one of these rooms?  On the Millenium where these rooms are numbered 7212, 8176 and 9164.  My concern as an avid photographer is that I will miss really great photo ops from my room as I will only be able to see out of the back of the ship.  Also, the ride is usually the bumpiest in the aft of a ship.  Please tell me about any experiences you have from this vantage point.

This might interest some of you but have you thought about Hospitality Exchanging with other singles. It is like swapping homes for a vacation but instead you stay with your swap partner and then reciprocate later. Your swap partner can act as your guide and show you around their area and you then can do the same when they come and stay with you.

It is obviously important to get to know your potential Hospitality partner beforehand by exchanging emails and tel calls etc but it is a great way to travel and you are not paying for accommodation.

There are a few websites to browse including ours but not sure if I am supposed to list it in this post so I will not but you can always send me a message if you need to know more.
