Canadien Rockies.  My wife and I stayed at the Prince of Wales Hotel to end our journey which had taken us as far north as Jasper.  The hike to Crypt Lake is truly the greatest on the continent, as pointed out in most guide books.  The Canadiens were great and the scerery spectacular.

My wife and I went to the Poconos and stayed at the Lovers Resort for our 25th Anniversary. It was incredible for us both and never enjoyed ourselves that much since. I would recommend that resort to anyone looking for a great vacation and a great romanticgetaway.

Due to having wonderful friends, got a chance to spend a week in Cozumel, Mexico.  Fantastic scenery, great food, and best of all, the most wonderful people I have had the luck to meet.  Highly recommend it to anyone.  Stayed at the El Cid, La Ceiba.  Cannot describe the service or magnitude of the surroundings.  Can't wait to go back.

My late wife and I have seen many of the wonderful sights and places and atmospheres across the United States, but what was and is the most memorable vacation we ever had were multiple visits at Kennebunk Beach.  For over 20 years we went there for our May anniversary and Thanksgiving every year.  The serene but endlessly changing face of the ocean never ceased to give us joy, and the slightly off-season charms of Southern Maine were also an endless pleasure.  I could bore you with stories about the Maine Diner in Wells, where we always tried not to eat crab cakes but always went back for more.

For us, it has been the island of St. John in the Caribbean.  Some beautiful beaches, a few excellent snorkeling spots like Waterlemon Key, good food, and very friendly people there. Not overrun with tourists, either, each time we went.  Yes, the bugs can eat you alive, so plan to spend as much time underwater as possible.  Just get used to driving in the left lane and you'll do fine.

My most memorable vacation spot is Egypt!   I visited in March of 2012 & found the people friendly & welcoming.  Cairo traffic is very busy as reported.  Luxor is much more relaxed with wonderful monuments, the Valley of the Kings, a great museum, all together a wonderful place to spend time. The Aswan area isn't crowded and has an incredible number of temples to explore!   For anyone enjoying archeological sites Egypt is unsurpassed.

If you really want a vacation to remember, then, you must travel to Fairbanks AK, during the winter time, when the northern lights, are in full swing. The color"s are unreal, and the way they sway in the night sky. The color" can not be explaned, in word" they have to seen in person. That was and always will be my best vacation.

In Response to Re: Most memorable vacation spots:
Any National Park has been worth the trip.  This includes Crater Lake in Oregon, Pt. Reyes National Seashore in northern California (about 60-70 miles from my home), Marin Headlands just over the Golden Gate Bridge, Yosemite can't be missed.  Best time to go spring or fall, forget summer with all the crowds unless it is the only time you can get there!  Recently I went to the Grand Canyon, Bryce & Zion National Parks.  Each is spectacular in its own way.  I did not get enough time at any of them but at least I got there.  Hope to go back but I also want to go other places.  Wherever you go, take time to enjoy.

I have to totally agree the first place i was gonna say was The Grand Canyon  then the second place was Carls Bad Caverns.  I remember them today like it was yesterday and it was back when i was a kid.  I want to go back so bad one more time.
