Years ago went to Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio--Wonderful hiking around "old man's cave"--Took so many gorgeous photographs there--canyons, cliffs, waterfalls, forests.
And favorite Beach destination is Santa Rosa Beach in Florida.  Water is multiple shade of blue, sand is clean and white and beaches aren't crowded.
Wish I could travel more!

The vast wilderness of Canada adventure holidays and its natural beauty provides a wonderful opportunity to sample many outdoors activities, among them walking and trekking the backcountry to really enjoy a Canada adventure holiday.

I have two memorable vacations:.

The first was in October 1989....this was PRE cell phones...so I made certain I went somewhere without a phone.  I rented a cottage at Dillon Beach, California (north of San Francisco). I packed my car w/ kitchen essentials, food & my dog (mini-red-dachshund) & took off.  My boss was frosted that he would not be able to contact me for 10-days!!! ;-))  My significant other arrived the first night. We walked the beach for miles & climbed vertical cliffs (w/ the very short-legged dog) that we had no business climbing, but found it so exhilerating.  October weather at the coast north of San Francisco is absolutely beautiful, although we had some rain storms that knocked out the power on & off.. We sat on the cliffs to watch the 'jets' fly over & the big carrier ships come in, as it was 'Fleet-Week' in San Francisco Bay.  We traveled the wine country, stopping in small towns to soak-up the culture, drank wine, bought wine & the dog always w/ us & welcome to any winery or pub. We ate spectacular meals, fresh from the sea, buying fish & seafood right off the fishermen's boats. I returned to work so rested & relaxed I was ready for my high-paced & demanding job as a RN, clinic-manager of an urgent-care medical clinic.

The second vacation was in May 2000....to Maui for 8-days to celebrate my nephew's 21st birthday, so it was a trip for family...my sister, her 3-sons (in their 20's) & my 8-yr old son. Upon arrival we found that the Condo that we had booked was damaged due to a broken pipe & flooding, so we were 'up-graded' to a much better Condo!!!!  From our balcony, we were so close to the ocean, we went to the annual Jazz festival w/ world reknowned musicians.  Of course we ate great food daily...did a luau...drove to Hana, hiked in through the rain-forests to find astounding waterfalls & pools for swimming & diving. We snorkled (astounding!!). The trip provided wonderful memories for our family....I still have photos of this trip on my frig, which inspire me.

Any National Park has been worth the trip.  This includes Crater Lake in Oregon, Pt. Reyes National Seashore in northern California (about 60-70 miles from my home), Marin Headlands just over the Golden Gate Bridge, Yosemite can't be missed.  Best time to go spring or fall, forget summer with all the crowds unless it is the only time you can get there!  Recently I went to the Grand Canyon, Bryce & Zion National Parks.  Each is spectacular in its own way.  I did not get enough time at any of them but at least I got there.  Hope to go back but I also want to go other places.

Wherever you go, take time to enjoy.  Smile

I just returned from Italy and I still can't believe how wonderful it was.  I expected to be impressed but was totally amazed by the beauty and grandeur of the natural   and man made wonders.  All of our plans worked perfectly, the weather was wonderful the entire visit (8 days in November) , our hotels were affordable and very nice and the Italian people were lovely.
It was the perfect vacation.

One of my best vacations was spending the month of May ferry-hopping the Greek Isles with three friends  (We're all of AARP age).  We would ride a local bus to a quaint village or some other place of interest and walk the old donkey paths or backroads to where we could catch a bus again.  We met so many wonderful people and saw great scenery.  Each island had its own personality.  In a month we visited just 5 islands, so we really got to spend time enjoying each location.  Our favorite island was the tiny Follegandros.   I hope to go back in the near future to visit another selection of islands.

Senior vacation to Niagra Falls.   Husband and I flew to Chicago and rented a car. Spent 1 day touring, drove up to Niagra Falls, Canada side (1 overnight stop on the way).  Such a worthwhile trip.  Drove down to Pittsburgh, took Duck tour.  On to Lancaster included a tour, back on to Chicago (stayed at Harrahs 2 hours away.  Did not drive more than 4-4/12 hours a day. Booked our overnight the night before to confirm a reservation.
Such a wonderful vacation with no pressure.

Our most excellent trip to Europe by RV is by far our most memorable vacation.   For us, this was a trip of a lifetime, so we spent a lot of time researching and planning our itinerary.   We traveled for three months via motorhome in western Europe, and a couple months in England & Ireland in a rental car using B&Bs and hostels.

We really enjoyed being able to travel the back roads and the flexibility to modify our plans as we desired.  There is so much to see and enjoy in Europe and our motorhome travel really was the way to see the sights and countryside.

We have just returned from a four day stay in Prague, what a wonderful city and so much to see and do, thoroughly recommend a visit. My favourite city though is still Venice followed close by is Istanbul. If you haven't been to either you must add them to your bucket list.

For somewhere more tranquil and quieter you must visit The Isle of Iona on the west coast of Scotland, simply magical!

Wherever you travel to enjoy it!

All of these sound great, especially the trips to Prague, and to Canada. My favorite place to return to over and over again is Cape May, NJ. It is always friendly, beautiful, and peaceful. The colors on the Victorian homes there just brighten my outlook. The buggy rides are a treat , too!
