In Response to Most memorable place: What is the most beautiful place you have ever seen, share your stories. Posted by AARPGuide Stockholm, Sweden in the summer wins hands down everytime. There is water everywhere. It is the city "in the water' and the city "on the water". The Old City is an island and the New City is literally on the water. There is a reason why they call it Venice of the North. I think is prettier than Venice; certainly cleaner. Yes, there are boat toars you can take. I lived there once and I can't even count the times I have been back since. There are many museums and parks to visit. My favorites are Skansen, kind of a zoo, a historical park and much more, and the Wasa Museum. The Wasa museum is different every time I go there. Just be careful when you go there. The person at the window tends to charge more than the listed price. Prices of admission are listed on a board above the ticket booth! He did it to me. I guess he thought Americans are stupid. I also happen to speak a little Swedish. If you can, go there before visiting all the other European countries. Sweden does not use Euros although it is member or EU.
