Going to Kaanapaali, Maui for a week.. any do's and don'ts?

My husband and I are going to Hawaii for the first time. We will be staying in Kaanapaali, Maui. Anyone been there and have any tips for us.. will be greatly appreciated. We are both somewhat disabled so won't be doing any extreme sports, so don't need tips on hiking the volcano or kite surfing, etc. We will have a condo and plan to fix some of our own meals, suggestions on food shopping, good restaurants, sightseeing tips, ets. THANKS in advance.
Oh and one more thing.. we want to rent a car, but we live in Norway and don't have the required type of personal car insurance. Any tips? Julia
