It takes a few days to make your trip plans to Miami Art Basel 2011 from December 1-4. They have multi-organized art shows in Miami and South Beach. Considering the options, I found a ton of art fair options that even have VIP events. Design Miami focuses on contemporary interior design and is just a short taxi ride away from Art Basel at the Miami Convention Center. Located within walking distance of each other are Ink Miami for print art, the Bass Museum of Fine Art with a new exhibit, and Verge Art fair for emerging art. A short walk over are Aqua for contemporary art and Pool, for under-represented artists. A quick taxi can take you back to Art Basel. Across the water in Downtown Miami is Tribal Art and a short walk over is Pulse, solely for contemporary art. A few blocks more is Arts for a Better World, intent on improving society through art. A short walk from there, you can find Fountain and Red Dot, featuring modern art dealers from around the world. Walk from Red Dot to Art Asia, Art Miami—the longest running art show in the city—and the Rubell Collection, with a new exhibit on American culture. Just one more short taxi ride brings you to Sculpt. Venture back across the water to return to Art Basel. Close to each event are fine dining restaurants. Near the Gehry Center next to Art Basel, try Yuca Cuban restaurant. Cecconi’s at the SoHo House is right by Pool and Aqua. At the Catalina Hotel you’ll find Kung Fu Kitchen (and Verge). Try Wynwood Kitchen and Bar or Joey’s Miami restaurant near Arts for a Better World and the Rubell Collection. Venture to Cafeina Wynwood Lounge near Art Asia and Fountain to relax after the shows.
