The 4th of July is the only true holiday that is dedicated to America.  What are your favorite traditions new or old for this holiday?

This year I will be on vacation with my siblings and children at the beach, we have vacationed here quite frequently throughout the years on the 4th!  We all make red/white/blue tye dye t shirts together early in the week and we all wear them together on the 4th.  We spend the day at the beach and watch fireworks from the beach at night.  I am looking forward to this again this year!

As a kid, we always packed the car with a cooler of drinks, chicken, potato salad  and snacks and spent the day in Washington DC to watch the free concerts in the afternoon and stayed for the evening fireworks!

Those are some of my great traditions new and old - what are your's?

The last several years, we've celebrated the 4th with the neighbors. We have a cook out and everyone brings a covered dish and the host provides the brats and hamburgers. There is a huge fireworks display on the Lake which we all look forward to. I don't know how it will go this year. Heat warnings and advisories (100s), burn bans (including fireworks in some areas). But we always have fun getting together and just relaxing. Happy 4th Teri and thanks for asking. Zil

Zil,
You are right, the Fireworks may have fewer attendees in this heat! But, we can still enjoy the cookouts, even if we move them indoors, (Cookins?) . And, the concerts on television for the 4'th are good , too.
Our area already had  a huge fire from someone doing some early fireworks, but, I know I will be able to see some anyway, even if it is hot.
