on 10/14/2011 I received a telephone call from a person who identified herself as calling from United Healthcare re the free physical exam offered by the plan.  Caller asked to confirm my zip code and physician's name which I confirmed.  Caller said United Healthcare "noticed" I hadn't taken advantage of the free annual physical exam and asked if I wanted to stay on the line while she called my doctor to schedule the exam.  I declined.  Caller asked "why?"  I told her didn't feel the need for a physical exam and that I should be able to take advantage of free physical exam at any time.  She agreed and thanked me for my time.

I later talked to a friend whose group employer insurance is provided by United Healthcare.  My friend said United Healthcare had advised employees that they were not making telephone calls to plan members.

I'm wondering how the called obtained my telephone number, physician's name and zip code.

Have any other members received calls supposedly from United Healthcare offering to schedule appointment for a free physical exam by making a three-party telephone call to doctor's office?

Thanks for your attention.

oh i got a call like that. beware! it's a scam. tehy call you, set you an appointment and even before you know it, they've already billed Medicare for that "free physical exam you should take advantage of." there's even a case where an elderly got some machine sent to her only because the entertained the questions of a telemarketer who called her up but never did she say yes about getting one. and that was charged to Medicare. these people try to take advantage of Medicare by getting through you. be careful on how you respond.

by the way, with the call i got, i rpeorted that phone number to this consumer complaint site called callercenter but when i got there, somebody else already reported it. here's the link http://www.callercenter.com/866-234-2255.html. see just how "hardworking" this criminal is.

Hey I never heard of this until now.  I have concerns about that happening so I will try to be alert to events like this.

I noticed one website that talks about health fraud.  Maybe it will help others to explore and discover about scams and reporting them.
