Apparently , the FTC, is not currently able to apply laws that protect online privacy. Are you doing what you need to protect your privacy on the internet? There are more ways to enhance your privacy in addition to the other ideas discussed here. For example, you can choose to use the secure https connection where available. Get that padlock turned on in your browser for extra privacy from scrutiny by your ISP and anyone else, especially where free WI-FI is available. You get the extra benefit of authenticating the website you are viewing, which is important with online banking and online health and medical surfing. Another thing you can do is obtain a USB stick or CD that offers a web browser apart from your hard drive, providing more security. A live CD/DVD or even a USB stick should cost well below $25 and as low as $2.50 depending on your source. The benefit is that they can anonymize your web activities without leaving traces on your computer hard drive. I hope these ideas are helpful. R |
