AARP was very active at one time and the format changed and many people had a problem with logging on or posting. |

In Response to Why are there so many views and so few replies?: I'm a newbie here and I was pretty happy to find what I thought would be the perfect forum for my question. But looking through the forum, I see lots of people have viewed the questions but hardly anyone replies. Why is that? The questions seem to be very good ones. I can't think of anywhere else to go to ask my particular question (about what's the best laptop/tablet/kindle-thing for a senior who has never used a computer), but maybe I'm not finding livlier senior-oriented forums? Posted by MicMan Your question will have to be answered by you depending on what you want to be able to do with the portable device you choose. My daughter has a Kindle. Hers is mainly for reading books she downloads. We don't own any netbooks/tablets but my knowledge of them shows you are limited with what you can do. My daughter and I both own laptops. I just bought her a new one for Christmas. She needed more RAM and hard drive space. I bought her a new Dell with Eight gigabytes of RAM, a second generation Intel i5 processor with 2.3 Ghz speed, dual core/four threads, and a 750 gigabyte hard drive. Please give some information about how you plan to use what you buy. You can also search for information about each by using your favorite search engine. Just type in kindle or tablet or laptop. |

Posted by MicMan Having been on a number of boards. I might suggest that it is typrical for more people to view than post. Not sure of the membership size here, but that is also a factor. I know you can subscribe to a thread once you know it is there. In my case Ihave been more involved in other areas on this board. Wish there was a way for someone to mark an area to watch so you could be notified if someone posts there. I know how frustrating it can be. I have been in IT for over 30 years and I was looking for an answer to a question about my Android phone, but never received a notice on the Android forum where I posted. I think I will try to look in more areas of this board. |
