Good Android Phone App To Share - Add Yours Here

KEY RING - Do you get loaded down with all the plastic id's with bar codes on them. They are in the form of key ring tags, credit card size membership cards etc. I did, and I can put them away and travel light with the help of "Key Ring" app. Just use the camera of your smart phone to scan the bar code and the app will keep track of them. I had rid of the tags from Kroger, CVS, Rite Aid, ACE Hardware, Sears, Office Max, Stapes, Office Depot and Best Buy from my key ring. My wallet no long has my gym membership card, library card and even AARP card. (Actually I don't carry all of them) Wheneven I need them, I just bring up the bar code image on the screen of the phone and the image can be scanned just like the real plastic. By the way, there is a version for IOS also. |

Dropbox - Register for a free account for 2Gb of cloud storage. Share files(and photos) between PC and mobile devices wirelessly. Also share files with others by creating a link pointing to your file or folder in your share directory. By emailing the link to your friend, you can break the barrier of the attachment size limit of your email account. Explore on your own to find other creative ways to use the cloud storage. What you need to do: 1) Download and install dropbox software on you PC or Mac. Register for account and create share directory in your computer 2) Install dropbox app in your mobile device and link it to your account 3) Files will be sync between you computer directory and mobile devices 4) Enjoy! |

I recommend you check out the following Android apps that I use everyday: 1) Android Assistant: Free & Paid - Furnishes many free utility tools to keep your phone operating. 2) Barcode Scanner: Free - Scans barcodes from products and publications. 3) Lookout Security: Free & Paid - Compete security for your Android; well worth the small monthly cost for the paid ver. 4) Elecont Weather: Paid - Best weather program I have found, uses GPS to give you conditions were you are. 5) Quiet Sleep: Free & Paid - Allows you to screen calls and text messages while you sleep. Provides means for important/emergency calls to reach you. 6) ColorNote: Free - Post It type notes that can be text or checklists.

For years I wanted a phone with an affordable data plan and I finally took the chance and left Verizon after many years of loyal service and went to Virgin Mobile where I go more for less. I am checking my email, reading articles on the web on the train, sending texts, using the calender, finding locations, checking prices in stores and the list goes on and on. The only thing that I had to get over was the fact that I had to charge it more often but I realize that is like a mini computer that works in the background. So I keep an extra charger in my desk drawer, no big deal. |

I want this thing to simply work as a phone and handle work/personal email and texts. Everything else is just fun and games and virtually worthless from a business perspective. These phones are definitely not an improvement. The media is so impressed with the functionality and app's but it's all pretty worthless if the thing goes dead every few hours. I don't sit in my office all day and the phone doesn't help much if it's on a charger and I'm on the move. I cannot believe they are not able to resolve this. I've heard the i-phone is much better so I guess that's my next move, but I'm skeptical. |

Posted by AARPMiller Since I have not used all the difference OS of smart phones, I can't say which one is superior. Among the ones have used, Sybian S60, IOS, and Android, Android is my favorite. I can pretty much find a free Android app to do what I want to do. Battery life may not be the best, I have not expericed running out of juice in few hours. I normally can get through a whole day and recharge it over night and it is ready in the morning. Just head out to a real phone store and play with a fountional model and decide for youself what you like. |

Android phones do not, in and of themselves, get more or less battery time than other phones. For example, I have the Motorola Razr Maxx and I get days of standby time from it. I tend to recharge it every couple of days at night by my bedside, so I can't say how long it would go if I let the battery run out. But I have gotten 3 days of standby time on it without any problem. When you say you are getting only 3 hours of standby time, I have to question if the phone is really in standby mode. Even the worst batteries will give you more standby than that, since the phone is essentially doing nothing during standby. You should check to see if you have some app running, sucking up battery, when you think it is in standby. Or you maybe have some virus that is sucking battery time. Whatever the problem is, any phone, with any OS, should give you days of standby mode battery life, not hours. The people at the store you took the phone back to may not know what they are doing, too., because 3 hours of standby time makes absolutely no sense on any smartphone. |
