I have an Android smart phone which I enjoy very much, but one of the problems is the battery life. A reason I selected the particular phone was because of 4g, size of screen, very good reviews, and supposed battery life. The problem is the battery comes no where near what was suggested in idle time. In use it is supposed to get 660 minutes. In standby mode it is supposed to get 280 hours. In actuality if I do not use it but let it just sit there I may get 28 hours. I have never gone even 2 days without re-charging it. Fortunately I bought a desk cradle that also charges which came with a battery so I could take it with me as a backup. I understand some phones are coming with batteries which cannot be swapped. I would want to make sure that phone could go at least 2 days without a charge before borrowing it.

Maybe one of the problems is that even it its idle time, the phone is still working since it always looks for a wireless connection or a 4g connection and will use a 3g if the former is not available.

I am making this post so you talk to someone who actually has been using the phone you want so you will get a better idea of what the battery life actually is. The battery life is about the only thing which disappoints me about the phone.

I have only had my Android, Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, about two weeks now but I have been doing a lot of reading about it since I bought it. I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a book about Android phones and tablets.

I have found some things to do to extend my battery life. I turn off my WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS when it is not needed.

I placed the Power Control Widget on one of my home screens which makes the above easy to do.

I only have 3G but one thing I read is for those that do have 4G you should be able to switch to 3G and that would help improve your battery life. You can always switch back to 4G when you feel like you need the extra speed. Check out the APNdroid app. This app will allow you to toggle the 4G on and off without cutting your basic call signal.
