Do you agree? And, when will we see Americans producing again?
From John Paczkowski, in All Things Digital:

    Apple CEO, Tim Cook, "

But in order for that to ever happen, the U.S. really needs to up its game.

“The truth is the tool-and-die-maker skill in the U.S. began to go down in the late ’60s and early ’70s,” Cook said. “How many tool-and-die makers do you know in the U.S. now? I could call a meeting and invite every tool-and-die maker in the United States and we wouldn’t fill this room.”  Tim Cook,

Being the CEO of Apple, I wish Mr. Cook can come up with a better excuse. Even if his statemenat is correct, I can't say one way or the other, tool and die makers do not produce the product, the factory workers do. I understand the majority of the factory workers come from the rural area all over China and get the training there. Can US worker be trained to make iWhatever, absolutely.  If US is really lack of tool and die makers, machinery can be shipped in from overseas. Massive automotive assembly lines are shipped between continents all the time, so I don't think shipping a electronic production line post much of a problem.

Tim Cook stated in a recent Rock Center interview that an Apple computer line will be produced in the US sometimes in 2013. The speculation is the Mac mini.
