I have a 4g phone which I very much enjoy. One of the reasons I enjoy it is that I am not restricted by Apple. Now that can be a 2 edged sword. When my son and I set up our phones, mine a 4g Android and his an Iphone 3, I was able to do the setup from my phone and nothing more was needed. My son had to start up the Laptop and download Itunes which was needed to set up his phone. After he downloaded the software he had to connect his phone to it for the setup process. He was not happy about that. I said it was a 2 edged sword, so to be fair I could say by Apple having the control they do, they can prevent some bad apps from being added to their site. In this case there may be a little more danger, but neither system is bullet proof.

I have downloaded quite a number of Apps and as of yet I have not paid for any of them. One app allows me to access my car and check some issues about it, but also lock and unlock doors in addition to starting the car. So I need not worry on a cold cold day about being outside the range of my remote control. I can also see where the car is. Another interesting app is one that scans local police and emergency calls. Some very functional apps include a calendar, calculators. two first aid apps.a flashlight, gasbuddy, connection to news, connection to weather, a translator. connection to grocery store, GPS, an app for golf showing distances, and a bunch of others. Naturally I have downloaded a number of games inclufding various card games and mahjong. There are so many apps out there, I have not even looked at many of them. I should mention I also downloaded a scanner for viruses and an app to extend battery life. The latter does not expand it enough though.

I have an app that connects directly to my online email account which is another one aside from my google email account, since it it the former I most often contact.

With my phone I am considering dropping par of my Onstar connection which is for directions since I can do that from my phone. I do occasionally use it as a phone also, but that is not as fun as the other stuff.

I found Apple products to be too restrictive for my taste. Everything you want to do on your device has to be allowed by the company. I have a Samsung Infuse and I am having fun with it. I like the options that I can make free phone calls back home when I travel overseas using wifi. When I was in Copenhagen last year, one memeber in our group needed to contact his credit card companies because he was a victim of pick pocket there. .He couldn't get through to the toll free number from the hotel room or even at the hotel office with the help of the switchboard. I offered him my Infuse to report the lost of his credit cards using the free Google Voice service. I am sure this is something one cannot do with an iphone.

There was a security breech at LinkedIN. There were also some problems with APPs. The Android APP has been fixed and the last I read they were awaiting to upate the APP because of a need for Apple approval.

Might I also complain about Apple moving production to China though it could be made here with a 45% profit margin they were not content with that so they moved their jobs to a Communist dictatorship where employees are not treated very well. Apple should be shame of itself.
