How does everyone here feel about the talk in DC about possible changes to social security and medicare? How could our elected officials even suggest changes to SSI, especially for those of us who are near retirment and  have paid for this benefit through taxes paid throughout our working careers.

Paul Ryan warned us of the Medicare Road to Bankruptcy and that changes were needed now not later.  So did the Medicare and Social Security Trustee along with others.  What thanks did Paul Ryan get? The news media and the Obama campaign ad showed Ryan pushing a Granny in a wheelchair over the cliff; however, Ryan had enough guts to bring the Medicare problems front and center.  Where was the Obama leadership and Plan?

Do I feel sorry for those seniors, etc. who didn't want the Ryan (Ryan also got Ron Wyden-D to work with him on a bipartisan plan) Plan?  NO

The Ryan Choice Plan (your 55 and under choice was to stay on traditional Medicare or shopping for private insurance) would have touched no one over the age of 55 and saved Medicare for those 55 and under

Now, we face the Washington politicians to deal our present Medicare and Social Security away just like President Obama did with Medicare Advantage.

Social Security is another question and we need leadership like Reagan's and O'Neil's to solve the Social Security unfunded liabiliy and cash flow problems.
