Yeah...it's tough and it really hurts, but what's the alternative?  If you show your hurt, you wind up in a shell with no chance for love at all.

Keep looking up and hoping for the best.  If you find horse poo under the tree on Christmas morning, look for the "pony" you asked Santa for...why else would it be there?  Laughing

It is one of those sweet, innocent sound bites like "Love means never having to say you're sorry"  that sounds great but isn't reality.  We all know that love is messy and painful in addition to being wonderful.  If you've never been hurt, there really isn't a space that's been created in your heart for the fullness of love.

A lot of these soundbites have a grain of truth to them. If you can open your heart to love, fully, you have a great chance of having a deep love...and if you don't open your heart fully, you will never know what that love would have been.

On the other hand, there is no point in taking stupid chances! Someone who has major personal problems should be treated with caution. What's the old saying? Trust in the Universe, but tie up your camel?

That is not reality, especially when you are young and in love.  It's a harsh reality when you find out the person you love is not in love with you, especially when you've been married to them for over 3 years.  It's extremely difficult when you are 19 years old and very innocent and vulnerable.  Oh well like they say live & learn.

Getting hurt is part of life, but  don't give the time you have left to be happy to the person who hurt you by being afraid to try again.  Don't get into a rush, but if you meet a nice trustworthy person just "open up your heart and let the sun shine in."  You may find out you'll be so happy the hurt doesn't matter anymore.

I have been married a few times and widowed twice.  Married in 2008 to someone to spend these "golden years" with and suddenly passed away Feb this year.  So much for the companionship I had hoped to have in these last years.  Any advice?

You have to put your hurt past behind you and look ahead be it alone or with another love.

i don't have any advice much but wanted to let you know that i've been in the same condition as you. i just decided that i've got to live and so i might as well live. i don't mean that to sound as depressing as it sounds! i just mean that i've learned that alone or with someone that i go on and i try to find things that interest me on most days. on other days i try to "jam pack "my days full and time passes. in the whole process who knows? the biggest thing is staying busy and as i know that you heard before "put yourself out there." i don't know your age but i can tell you at 51 i feel like the golden years sometimes!
