I would suggest joining or affiliating yourself with a local retirement community of active independent seniors.  There are lots of organization even if you do a "google search" that will come up that you can check out.  Good luck with your endeavors.

I just happened to view this message and noticed your reply. I did as you suggested and I could NOT find where the party would suggest such a request. I do not know this person nor do I live in CA. But I do in Michigan and thought I check if there was someone who was looking for a friend also. The is just a friend. Nothing else! So if you can be a little more in detail of what you stated I personally feel this is the best place for requesting to find a friend! Sorry!

In Response to Re: looking for senior friends:
Take a look at www.betasigmaphi.org and click on "about us".  This is an international women's organization formed 80 years ago and still going strong.  My friend left New York, moved to CA and joined a chapter there.  It's a wonderful way to make friends in your area.  Good luck!

In Response to looking for senior friends:
I am also looking. Is there a board for penpals or travel friends.  I'm soon coming to Austin, Tx. Going to have a few days to myself. Looking for another woman to perhaps sight see, do lunch, etc. I am married but will be alone, just looking for a friend. I'm from near Rochester, NY. I'm willing to do the same for anyone that comes to this area.  Anyone interested or have suggestions?  I know it's late notice, but an unexpected trip. I'll be there on the 9th. Be staying a wk. -10 days.  Thanks
Barb.
